World Language Program Overview
The Lincoln World Language Program introduces students to the basics of Chinese, German, French, and Spanish. Classes help students develop skills for elementary comprehension, create a positive attitude towards language learning, and provide an introduction to a foreign culture.
World Language Program Objectives
- To increase global awareness and foster an appreciation for other people and cultures.
- To teach introductory Chinese, French, German, and Spanish.
- To acquire a minimum vocabulary, using correct pronunciation, with emphasis on listening and speaking.
- To learn grammatical patterns, phrases, and courtesy requirements.

Lincoln Chess Club
The Lincoln Chess Club will be open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Chess Club will meet on Mondays after school from 3:00 until 3:55. The first meeting will be on October 21, and the last meeting will be March 3, 2020. The goal of the Lincoln Chess Club is to teach and sharpen chess skills while developing an appreciation for the game. New this year will be a school chess tournament and a district-wide tournament that is not mandatory to participate in.
Students are expected to participate in chess while at chess club, they will practice skills in addition to playing chess. Please make certain students understand and wish be members chess club, and take it seriously. Only students who have missed the deadline or the 50-student limit will be notified; if you are NOT notified, then please notify your child’s teacher to send your child to the gym on Mondays from 10/21/19-3/3/20 for chess club. ALL selections are made on a first-come basis. Any submissions received after the deadline or the 50 students MAXIMUM will be respectfully returned.
To Register: You may register your child for the program one of two ways; 1) download, complete, print and enclose this form along with the registration fee (check made out to Lincoln PTO), inside an envelope labeled “Lincoln PTO” and return it to: MR. C., or the office by October 20 OR; 2) use this link to register and submit the fee online. Registration will not be complete until you have filled out the required form and paid the fee.
